Sicura, a leader in redefining Security Control Management, has announced that cybersecurity luminary Marene Allison, former Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Johnson & Johnson, has joined the company as a strategic advisor. With an extensive career spanning more than 40 years in high-stakes security roles, Allison will provide strategic guidance across product development, market strategy, and industry engagement.

“Marene’s tenure as a CISO offers unparalleled insight into the direction cybersecurity must take next,” said Lisa Umberger, CEO and co-founder of Sicura. “She hasn’t just witnessed the evolution of enterprise security—she has helped lead it. It’s a privilege to collaborate with someone whose leadership I deeply admire, both professionally and personally, especially as a fellow woman founder. Her addition marks a pivotal moment for Sicura as we continue to address deep-rooted vulnerabilities in IT infrastructure.”

Sicura is at the forefront of defining Security Control Management as a foundational pillar for both governmental and commercial entities. Its technology enables secure system provisioning, vulnerability remediation, and continuous compliance with principles such as those championed by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)’s Secure by Design initiative. Sicura’s platform aggregates, monitors, and contextualizes security data in real-time, transforming traditional systems of record into proactive systems of intelligence.

Jen Easterly, former Director of CISA, commented on the partnership, stating, “Marene Allison has long been a trusted advisor across sectors on matters of national and enterprise security. Her strategic vision, combined with Lisa and the Sicura team’s innovation, is a powerful catalyst for driving Secure by Design forward as the new global benchmark. I look forward to the impact this collaboration will make.”

Allison’s approach aligns seamlessly with Sicura’s core mission. At Johnson & Johnson, she oversaw one of the healthcare industry’s most complex security transformations, enabling the shift of 90% of the company’s computing and FDA-regulated workloads to hybrid cloud infrastructures with built-in security from day one.

“What drew me to Sicura is their mission-driven focus on proactive, practical security and their commitment to broadening access to opportunity,” said Allison. “Infrastructure often goes unnoticed—yet it’s one of the most vulnerable areas in the enterprise. Security Control Management offers a smarter way for CISOs to tackle this challenge with accuracy and agility. I’m thrilled to support Sicura’s bold vision and help redefine the cybersecurity landscape.”

Allison brings a remarkable range of experience to her advisory role. She has led security operations at global enterprises, including Avaya—where she was instrumental in securing the World Cup Network during the 2002 Korea-Japan tournament—and served as Chief Security Officer at Medco Health Solutions and Vice President of Loss Prevention and Safety at The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company.

Prior to entering the corporate realm, Allison served as a Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), reinforcing her broad and deep understanding of national security. She continues to be a trusted advisor to major public institutions, including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and CISA, where she contributes to strategies for national resilience.

Allison has also served on the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services (DACOWITS), appointed by the Secretary of Defense, and on the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), appointed by the Secretary of State. She was a board member for the Health Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Health-ISAC), further showcasing her leadership in fostering collaboration between sectors.

A trailblazer in her own right, Allison earned her Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point as part of its inaugural class of female graduates. She later served as a military police officer in the U.S. Army and is currently the president of West Point Women, the organization she co-founded to support women graduates of the academy.

With her unmatched credentials and forward-thinking perspective, Allison’s strategic counsel is expected to play a critical role as Sicura scales its impact across industries.
