This breach occurred because organizations lacked visibility into their MCP environment; developers installed dependencies rapidly and without proper security vetting. Moreover, security flaws were exacerbated by hardcoded API keys and overprivileged AI agents, which, when compromised, could erase data or deploy ransomware. The incident underscores the urgent need for organizations to adopt a structured security approach, such as Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM), to detect and mitigate risks associated with the rapidly expanding AI toolset before attackers exploit these blind spots.

Potential Risks
