Threat Overview, Attack Techniques, and Targets

Threat actors are actively exploiting two serious flaws in WordPress plugins: Super Forms and Elementor Pro. These vulnerabilities allow unauthenticated attackers to upload files of any type, including malicious PHP scripts. This can lead to remote code execution (RCE). The vulnerabilities are identified as CVE-2026-14894 and CVE-2026-32475. Exploitation involves sending specially crafted HTTP POST requests to specific endpoints on the WordPress site. In the case of CVE-2026-14894, attackers use the “/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php” endpoint to deliver a Base64-encoded PHP payload. For CVE-2026-32475, they submit a form with a malicious PHP file, bypassing validation.

These attack techniques target WordPress sites using the affected plugins. Targets include websites with the vulnerable plugins installed, especially those with forms that allow file uploads. Exploit attempts have been recorded since July 2026, with a peak of over 40,000 requests in August 2026. Attack sources include various IP addresses across multiple regions.

Impact, Security Implications, and Remediation Guidance

The exploitation of these vulnerabilities can have severe consequences. Attackers could upload malicious PHP files to the website. They can then use these files as web shells to execute arbitrary commands. This can result in full site control, data theft, or creation of unauthorized administrator accounts. The current threat level is high given the extensive number of exploit attempts.

Regarding security implications, vulnerable sites face significant risk of compromise if these flaws are not addressed. Attackers can weaponize uploaded web shells to bypass security measures and execute malicious activities. It is essential for site administrators to patch affected plugins promptly.

For remediation, websites should update Super Forms to version 6.3.314 or later, and Elementor Pro to version 4.2.2 or later. Additionally, administrators should scan their sites for suspicious or recently modified PHP files. They should also review server logs for any signs of compromise. Since the details about these specific CVEs are available, site owners are encouraged to obtain the most current security updates and remediation guidance from the plugins’ vendors or official security sources.
