Summary Points

  1. Optiv launched CyberBOT, a free cybersecurity learning program for schools, nonprofits and communities.
  2. Five sessions cover essential threats: attackers, phishing, passwords, social media and mobile security.
  3. Hands-on activities and an educator guide help make lessons practical, engaging and easy to deliver.
  4. The initiative builds safer digital habits and introduces young people to future cybersecurity careers.

Free Training Targets Everyday Cyber Risks

Optiv launched CyberBOT, a free cybersecurity learning program for schools, nonprofits and community groups. The company announced the program on Oct. 21, 2026.

CyberBOT offers five interactive sessions on common threats. Participants learn to spot phishing emails, create stronger passwords, protect social media privacy and secure mobile devices. They also explore how cybercriminals operate and why they target people and organizations.

Instead of relying only on lectures, the program uses stories, games, posters and role-playing. An educator guide includes activity instructions, suggested timing and printable materials. Educators can also award certificates when participants finish sessions.

A Practical Starting Point for Safer Digital Habits

Because the program is free and comes with ready-to-use materials, it could help organizations that lack resources for cybersecurity training. However, its reach will depend on educators and community leaders having the time and access to deliver the sessions.

The lessons connect online safety with daily choices, such as checking a message before clicking or limiting personal details on social media. Those habits can help people feel more confident as they use digital tools, including AI-powered services.

CyberBOT also introduces students to cybersecurity skills that may support future careers. Optiv says the program forms part of its Optiv Chips In community initiative, which focuses on preparing the next generation of cyber leaders.
