Fast Facts

  1. AI as a Priority: Nearly 40% of security professionals view AI-based security frameworks as essential for reducing cyber risks over the next three years, according to an AWS report.

  2. Current AI Adoption: Around one-third of organizations already utilize AI agents for tasks like identity management and threat monitoring, but interest in expanding AI use remains low among non-users.

  3. SOC Automation Growth: There’s a slight expected growth in automating security operations center (SOC) processes, with only a 3% increase anticipated over the next year.

  4. Cloud Migration Hesitance: Approximately 90% of respondents express major concerns about security risks hindering their data migration to AI-enabled cloud platforms, with many still favoring on-premises servers.

AI’s Role in Strengthening Governance

As security leaders look for effective ways to enhance cyber defenses, they increasingly turn to artificial intelligence. Recent studies reveal that nearly 40% of security professionals see AI-based frameworks as critical for reducing cyber risks. This transition highlights a significant shift in focus. Instead of merely detecting threats, many prioritize governance. Leaders want to create solid security frameworks to support integrated tools and processes. Implementing these frameworks can foster a proactive security culture. Therefore, investing in governance not only builds resilience but also encourages collaboration among technical teams.

The Pragmatic Path to Automation

Despite the promising potential of AI, organizations face challenges in widespread adoption. Over a third already utilize AI for identity management and threat monitoring. Yet, interest in expanding these capabilities remains limited among those who haven’t adopted AI. Furthermore, only a slight uptick is expected in automating security operations center (SOC) processes. Although 35% currently automate these processes, only 38% plan to do so in the near future. Many respondents cite security risks as a significant barrier. Nearly 90% express concerns about moving data to cloud platforms that leverage AI. Hence, although the potential is clear, practical obstacles remain.
