Summary Points

  1. Hybrid Infrastructure Preferred: 96% of CISOs favor hybrid models combining public/private cloud, on-premises, and air-gapped systems to enhance resilience and manage risk.

  2. Regulatory Compliance: 97% believe hybrid environments help meet data sovereignty and residency requirements, critical for regulatory compliance.

  3. Operational Technology Convergence: 96% of respondents see the integration of IT and OT as vital for protecting infrastructure, although 40% report leadership’s lack of understanding in this area.

  4. Business Continuity Focus: Amidst alarming cyberattack impacts, operational resilience and continuity are top concerns for 2025, highlighted by disruptions like Jaguar Land Rover’s $2.5 billion incident.

Embracing Hybrid Environments

Hybrid environments have emerged as a powerful strategy for managing digital risk and ensuring compliance. A recent report highlights that about 96% of chief information security officers (CISOs) favor this model. By combining public and private cloud services with on-premises resources, firms can enhance resilience. Transitioning to a hybrid setup enables organizations to better navigate regulatory landscapes and meet data sovereignty requirements. Importantly, this mix promotes operational continuity, crucial in an age where cyberattacks can disrupt business for extended periods.

Moreover, in cooperative hybrid frameworks, security teams can unify their efforts across diverse platforms. This integrated approach fosters a consistent security posture, vital for mitigating risks. As incidents like the Jaguar Land Rover cyberattack demonstrate, the financial repercussions can be staggering. Companies realize the extent of operational resilience relies heavily on their hybrid infrastructure, as about nine out of ten CISOs already engage in such models. The demands of modern cybersecurity push leaders to adopt flexible solutions that safeguard their organizations.

Addressing the IT-OT Convergence

Another critical aspect for CISOs involves the convergence of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT). This blending ensures organizations can protect vital infrastructure from potential threats. Approximately 96% of surveyed leaders believe this convergence is essential for modern security measures. However, a concerning disconnect remains; two out of five CISOs report that their leadership struggles to grasp the differences between IT and OT security.

This knowledge gap complicates effective risk management, especially as operational resilience takes center stage. As cyber threats evolve, it’s crucial for organizations to adapt. In an interconnected world, strong leadership must prioritize understanding these distinctions. By promoting knowledge and collaboration, leaders can enhance overall security and ensure compliance. The journey towards empowering hybrid environments and IT-OT convergence is essential for the future of cybersecurity.
