Securing the Future: Google’s Quantum-Safe Encryption Plan by 2029

Practical Steps Toward Widespread Adoption

Despite the clear need for change, many organizations lack a clear plan to adopt quantum-safe security. Research shows that 91% of companies have not yet developed a roadmap for this transition. Recognizing this gap, Google is integrating quantum resistance into its technology. For example, Android 17 will include new security features, such as quantum-resistant digital signatures, across devices and applications. These improvements aim to protect both hardware and software against future threats. Google is also encouraging developers to update their app signing keys regularly and manage hybrid cryptography systems. This proactive approach combines practical steps with a broader goal: to lead by example and inspire others to prepare now for a secure quantum future.
