  2. Exploitation methods include using HTTP POST requests for file uploads, web shell deployment, and IDOR flaws to access other tenants’ keys, enabling botnet, cryptojacking, and credential theft activities.
  3. Threat actors are rapidly weaponizing these vulnerabilities within hours of disclosure, with evidence of active campaigns targeting government and private sector sites, emphasizing urgent patching and mitigation actions.

Threat, Attack Techniques, and Targets

The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has identified four vulnerabilities that are actively being exploited. These are CVE-2026-48282, CVE-2026-56290, CVE-2026-55255, and CVE-2026-48908. Exploitation of these flaws allows hackers to gain unauthorized access and execute malicious actions. Attackers are using techniques like path traversal, remote code execution, unauthorized file uploads, and authorization bypasses. These exploits target popular platforms such as Adobe ColdFusion, Joomla, and Langflow. The hackers are mainly focusing on web servers and web applications used by organizations and site administrators.

In particular, cybercriminals have quickly exploited CVE-2026-48282 after it was made public. They attempted to run malicious code on vulnerable systems hours after disclosure. Attackers are also using zero-day exploits like CVE-2026-48908 to upload harmful PHP files and gain control of affected websites. Campaigns targeting site management tools, including Joomla’s PageBuilder CK, have been observed. These attacks often involve uploading malicious files, such as web shells, to take over affected sites and steal data.

Impact, Security Implications, and Remediation Guidance

The impacts of these vulnerabilities are serious. They can allow attackers to run malicious code, take over websites, steal sensitive data, and even access other users’ information. Exploited flaws like CVE-2026-55255 have been used to steal credentials and keys for cloud resources. This can lead to further attacks like botnets or cryptojacking, where the attacker secretly uses the affected system’s resources for illegal activities.

Because these vulnerabilities are actively being exploited, organizations need to act quickly. To reduce risks, organizations should update affected software versions. For example, users of SP Page Builder are advised to upgrade to version 6.6.2 or later. Site managers should check for suspicious files, especially PHP files, that are not usually there. They should also review their security settings to prevent unauthorized uploads.

Since specific remediation guidance is not provided in the report, organizations should get instructions directly from the software vendors or security authorities. Applying security patches and updates from the vendors will help fix these vulnerabilities and protect systems from future attacks.
