The vulnerability is caused by deserialization of untrusted data. This means an attacker can send malicious data that the system processes without checking properly. If successful, the attacker can run malicious code remotely. The attack does not need physical access to the system. The vulnerability affects the cloud-based identity and access management service. Because of this, attackers could target organizations using Microsoft Entra ID. No specific targets were detailed, but the impact could be widespread due to the service’s widespread use.

Impact, Security Implications, and Remediation Guidance

This flaw allows remote code execution. If exploited, it could let an attacker take control of affected systems. The attacker might perform malicious actions without authorization. Microsoft confirmed that the vulnerability has been exploited in real attacks. However, the company also states that no customer action is required at this time. Microsoft has already issued a complete fix for the vulnerability. Still, organizations should stay alert for any updates from Microsoft.
