  1. Microsoft introduces advanced security tools like MDASH and integrated workflows to detect, validate, and remediate vulnerabilities early in the development process, enhancing proactive security.
  2. New capabilities enable secure, compliant development of AI agents from inception, with built-in governance, runtime controls, and comprehensive visibility across environments.
  3. Microsoft enhances data and model security, including runtime data loss prevention and AI model scanning, to ensure trust and prevent vulnerabilities before deployment.
  4. The holistic approach embeds security throughout the AI development lifecycle, emphasizing trust, safety, and streamlined governance to support rapid innovation responsibly.

Integrating Security Into Daily Development and Operations

In today’s fast-paced tech world, developers aim to deploy new features quickly. However, security often lags behind, creating risks. That is why the tools announced at Build 2026 are so important. They help security become part of everyday work rather than an afterthought. For example, the new multi-model agentic scanning system, called MDASH, uses many AI models to find vulnerabilities early. This system can scan codebases in real time, helping teams catch issues before they reach production. It works faster and better than traditional methods. Moreover, developers can now see which vulnerabilities are most critical thanks to integrations with familiar tools like GitHub and Microsoft Defender. This approach reduces the gap between development speed and security. It also helps security teams stay in control while supporting innovation. Essentially, these advancements make security a seamless part of daily operations. Teams avoid risky shortcuts and focus on building safe, reliable software from the start. This shift can lead to safer products and more confident progress in AI-driven projects.

Securing Agents and Data for the Future of AI

Agents are new building blocks in enterprise IT. They can perform tasks automatically, but they also bring new security challenges. Microsoft Build 2026 introduces capabilities to help organizations build and manage these agents securely from day one. The new SDK allows developers to embed controls into their agents, making them compliant and safe to deploy. Additionally, advanced tools give IT teams visibility into agent activity across different environments. This way, they can see what is running, control access, and prevent risky behaviors. Furthermore, data security gets a boost with real-time insights about sensitive information. For example, Purview’s signals help developers identify when confidential data might be exposed. Combined with runtime protections, these tools make sure that sensitive information stays protected as agents operate. Lastly, before models are used broadly, teams can now verify their safety with Defender AI model scanning. This process checks for vulnerabilities before AI models go into production, reducing risks from compromised or unsafe models. Since AI’s future depends on trust, these measures help organizations confidently adopt new technologies without sacrificing security or control.
