Essential Insights

  1. Google has acquired Wiz for $32 billion to create an AI-led "agentic defense" security platform that automates threat detection, investigation, and response across multicloud environments.
  2. The new platform leverages Google’s proprietary chips, AI models, and Wiz’s cloud security analysis to embed security into every layer of its infrastructure, from chips to applications.
  3. Google is integrating Wiz’s attack surface management with its Threat Intelligence and launching AI-powered tools like Wiz AI-APP and AI-BOM to empower security teams with AI-driven cybersecurity operations.
  4. Despite strong competition from companies like Microsoft and Palo Alto, Google’s comprehensive AI-driven security stack, including agentless monitoring and automated threat response, aims to revolutionize cybersecurity with faster, autonomous defense systems.

Google Launches Agentic Defense After Wiz Acquisition

Recently, Google introduced a new security platform called “agentic defense.” This comes shortly after it completed a $32 billion deal to acquire Wiz, a fast-growing cloud security company. Wiz uses advanced analysis to connect cloud assets, vulnerabilities, and exposures across multiple cloud systems. Google’s new platform uses intelligent security agents to detect, investigate, and fix threats automatically. This shift aims to keep up with attackers who now use AI to speed up their attacks. Google believes that AI-led defense is the best way to protect digital environments from rapid threats.

How Google’s AI-Driven Security Platform Works

Google’s new platform combines AI technology with its vast infrastructure. It uses its own chips, GPUs, and AI models, including the Gemini platform, to build security from the hardware to the software. The platform features new agents in Google Security Operations, which handle routine tasks like sorting false alarms. For example, Google’s first security agent reduced manual alert analysis from 30 minutes to just one minute. Additionally, the platform includes Wiz’s AI Application Protection Platform, now in public preview. This system helps security teams discover, evaluate, and protect AI applications across many clouds and edge environments. Overall, Google’s strategy showcases an effort to make cybersecurity faster, smarter, and more integrated than ever before.
