Quick Takeaways

  1. Launch of Cloud Storage: March Networks has introduced a new Cloud Storage solution, collaborating with AWS, designed to help organizations securely retain video without high costs.

  2. Cost-Effective Model: The tiered cloud storage approach allows businesses to reduce long-term storage expenses by up to 80%, providing rapid access to recent footage while archiving older videos securely.

  3. Proven Savings: A customer with 580 cameras cut annual storage costs from $1.7 million to approximately $347,000, showcasing the financial benefits of March Networks’ cloud solution.

  4. Enhanced Software Capabilities: The update includes AI-driven features for faster searches and improved usability, along with new camera models that support efficient video coverage and analytics, modernizing surveillance solutions.

Flexible and Cost-Effective Cloud Storage

March Networks has introduced a new Cloud Storage solution, addressing one of the biggest challenges in video surveillance: efficiently retaining large volumes of footage. One issue with traditional storage methods is the constant need for hardware upgrades, which can raise operational costs. March Networks’ approach, powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), uses a tiered system. This design keeps frequently accessed video readily available for quick investigations. Meanwhile, older footage gets stored securely with AWS’s S3 Glacier, which offers long-term retention at a significantly lower cost.

This model brings practical benefits. Organizations can reduce their long-term storage expenses by up to 80% over five years while ensuring that archived footage remains accessible. Typically, users can retrieve archived video within 12 to 48 hours. Once retrieved, the footage can be reviewed and edited within the March Networks application, enhancing evidence handling capabilities and removing constraints on camera backups.

Proven Customer Savings

The advantages extend beyond just storage efficiency. For example, a client managing 580 cameras generating 5,600 terabytes of archived video reported substantial savings. They estimated their annual storage costs would drop from $1.7 million to around $347,000 with the use of March Networks’ Cloud Storage. This hybrid solution allows for immediate access to recent footage while dramatically cutting long-term retention expenses.

Moreover, the latest software enhancements, including advanced AI capabilities and improved user interfaces, complement the new cloud solution. Features like AI Smart Search and the Smart Rules Wizard streamline operations and support quicker investigations. Overall, these advancements do more than just modernize infrastructure; they empower businesses to maximize the value of their video data.
